The installation does not depend on the thickness, all square tiles are installed in the same way and can be trimmed with a carpet cutter for an individual fitting for every room. The knife should be sharp and gloves should be used during the cutting of the tiles.

The right approach is important for the proper installation of rubber floor tiles. We recommend to hire an expert in case of uncertainty.

Preparation of the ground

  • If necessary, the ground should be sanded and/or dents should be filled up with putty to make sure that you will get the best results.
  • The ground has to be cleaned before the installation of the floor mats to ensure proper adherence of the glue and an even appearance after installation.
  • The ground has to be completely dry again when starting the installation.

Preparation of the tiles

Due to production, rubber flooring inevitable possesses dimensional tolerances depending on ambient temperature. The tiles expand slightly when sourrounded by heat and contract when sourrounded by cold.

Our rubber floors have a temperature tolerance of ±2,5 % max. which can show as small joints. Additional, the tiles are stacked about one another during transport, which causes reversible flattening.

The tiles should be adjusted to room temperatur 24 hours before installation. Therefore, the mats should be layed out on the ground. This allows the mats relax to its regular size.

Installation

To avoid the appearance of joints, the tiles can be glued sidewise with each other or with the ground. The bonding makes it more difficult however, if reinstallation is desired. Therefore, we recommend spot bonding the floor mats.

Suggestion: The PU adhesive UZIN KR 430 is recommended for an optimal result. This glue convinces with its maximum adhesion, high resistance against heat and cold and its final hardness. The product is available in specialist shops.

Recommended laying patterns

There are several possibilities how to install square tiles. To make the decision easier, the tiles can be layed out on a part of the planned area on trial. This helps visualizing the optical effect.

Straight or Stack Bond

This is the most common and simplest tiling pattern and is particularly suitable for large areas.

The joints of the square tiles are forming a cross-shaped pattern.

A chequered pattern can be created with different colored floor mats.

Stretcher Bond

The end of each tile is lined up with the centre of the tiles that are both directly above and below it.

This type of installation improves the bonding of the floor area.

Slight dimensional differences of the mats can be compensated easily with this type of installation.

Cleaning and Sealing

After curing process of the adhesive, the installed floor should be cleaned multiple times with pure water. This removes soap residues due to production.

Optional: Sealing the floor with PU finish is recommended. It simplifies further cleaning and improves the non-slip quality of the flooring.
